ENGINEERING SERVICES

"We Make Engineering Your Product Easy."

Our greatest strength is the ability to reduce customer anxiety by providing solutions in a timely manner. Our engineering service, from conceptual engineering through production saves time and money while reducing frustration. "We can design it and build it faster than anyone."

The above photo shows a Spot Welding Arm we engineered for a client. This particular Arm is one of three different sizes furnished in a kit to the end user. The end users are auto body repair shops who use portable spot welding equipment to replace damaged auto body panels. A photo of the spot welding equipment is found at the bottom of this page.

Previous Spot Welding Arms were constructed from stretched formed Aluminum bar stock which measured 1" X 3" X 84" . They also included 1/2" thick welded gusset along the inside edge. These Arms were very costly to produce.

The challenge was to design and fabricate a new style arm that was stronger, lighter and less expensive. We did this by creating 3D models, analyzing them using finite-element-analysis (FEA), and fabricating a new style arm from slightly thicker plate stock.

Since we were able to take the Arms from plate we could nest other size Arms in the surrounding areas of the material (see above). Also, we were able to design the Arms so that the outside edge of one Arm served as the inside edge of another. This is called common edge cutting. The elimination of the welds was another huge benefit which improved the mechanical properties of the Arms.

"In the end the Arms were faster to produce, performed better and cost less."
